History of the Chamber

Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce History

The Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce was formed in May 1960 by Richard Willis known as the father of the Peoria Heights Chamber. Mr. Walter B Martin served as the first Executive Secretary. Their first project was to plant trees in the business district on Prospect Road. In June 1962 the Chamber held the first community event known as the Old Original Days.

Today the Chamber continues to be a vibrant force of Peoria Heights as a non-profit organization of businesses, individuals, governmental agencies, churches and schools located in the Peoria Heights area as well as others interested in being a part of and networking with Heights businesses.

The purpose of the Peoria Heights Chamber is to make Peoria Heights a better Village in which to live and to transact business for the area.

The Chamber hosts the annual Duryea Festival plus additional community events throughout the year.
