Member Spotlight – Pumpkin Glass
Pumpkin Glass opened in Morton on July 1, 2003. It has evolved from a small beginning focused on teaching glass beadmaking and selling handmade beads to a full service bead and Artisan Jewelry store. We moved for expansion several times in Morton and are now in the Junction City Shopping Center located in Peoria. We feature artisan made jewelry and teach classes with an average of 16 or more per month in everything from glass fusing, wirework, metalwork and beading.
Teresa has been a professional artist for 30 years. She graduated with a Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Fiber from Northern Illinois University and initially worked designing and weaving tapestries and one of a kind woven clothing. As a creative outlet, she began making jewelry in 1996 and immediately became enchanted with the process of torch working glass into beads (lampworking). After several years of developing her skills as a lampworker and jewelry maker, she began exhibiting and selling her work in galleries and shops. She now owns Pumpkin Glass Gallery and Studio with her husband Bruce where they display and sell art jewelry, handmade beads, jewelry making supplies, and teach classes.
Over the past 15 years Teresa has been fortunate enough to study all over the country under accomplished master artists in lampworking, glass casting, glass fusing, wire work, metal work, and beading. Her love for creation, materials and techniques has led to a fulltime labor of love creating jewelry and teaching others.
Teresa’s work has been featured in several magazines including “Bead and Button” and “BeadStyle”. She was also published in the book “Bead Review 2005”.
Stop by the store at 5901 N. Prospect Rd, Suite 4, Peoria to see the beautiful jewelry and beads or visit their website at www.pumpkinglass.com for more information and schedule of upcoming classes.
