This gala concert showcases the dancing of Lauren Pschirrer and Mengjun Chen – both Artists in the Smuin Contemporary Ballet of San Francisco. They will be backed by the HFO’s full orchestra, in a program ranging from popular to romantic to contemporary. Renowned composer Jeff Beal (“House of Cards”) collaborates with famed choreographer Helen Pickett in a World Premiere Preview duet from “Rootabaga Stories” –
a larger work based on the fanciful tales of Carl Sandburg, in the process of creation for the HFO.
